Udofia and O?Neale Named All-WAC

DENVER – University of Denver junior Chris Udofia (Irving, Texas) and sophomore Royce O’Neale (Killeen, Texas) were named to the All-WAC Team.

Udofia was selected to the All-WAC First Team, Hallam made the All-WAC Second Team, and Olson and O’Neale both earned spots on the All-WAC Third Team. Additionally, Udofia and Hallam were voted to the WAC All-Defensive Team.

“Having four players honored by the league’s coaches is a complement to our team as a whole,” head coach Joe Scott said. “The success we have enjoyed this season has been a group effort, and I’m happy these guys were recognized for their hard work.”

Udofia, who was named to the All-WAC First Team and All-WAC Defensive Team earlier this week by the league’s coaches, is second in the WAC this season in blocked shots (2.38) and assist/turnover ratio (1.82); fifth in field goal percentage (.516); sixth in assists (3.45) and steals (1.59); ninth in scoring (12.9); and 14th in free throw percentage (.701). The junior is the only player in the WAC ranked among the top 10 in both blocks and steals at second and sixth, respectively. Udofia was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and All-SBC First Team last year.

O’Neale, who was named All-WAC Third Team by the conference coaches, is one of only two players to rank among the WAC’s top 15 in scoring (14th – 11.5), rebounding (14th – 5.6), assists (sixth – 3.45) and steals (10th - 1.45). O’Neale actually ranks among the WAC leaders in 10-of-13 categories: also third in minutes played (35.07), sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.52), seventh in defensive rebounds (4.59), eighth in free throw percentage (.752), 12th in field goal percentage (.453), and 13th in three-point percentage (.346). O’Neale, who earned WAC Player of the Week honors for Dec. 10-16, recorded double-doubles against Nebraska Omaha (Dec. 15) and UTSA (Jan. 6).
