DENVER – Public Service Credit Union (PSCU) Director of Business Development Chris Stengle presented Palmer Elementary student Kaileigh Parks with a $1,000 check as a winner of the Rising Stars program.
Stengle was joined by PSCU Assistant Vice President of Marketing Angela Webb and Viki Supple from PSCU’s Support Services in presenting the check to Kaileigh and her mother, Catherine Ordeman.
In its third year, the Rising Stars program honors outstanding elementary school students from across the state for exemplary academic aptitude and character. District principals selected worthy recipients from various schools to be honored at Denver men's basketball home games. Worthy recipients were presented with a certificate at their designated game and honored during the event.
Public Service Credit Union, which has been the presenting sponsor for the Rising Stars program since its inception, provides tickets for the Rising Stars and their families and friends to attend University of Denver men’s basketball games.
This year, Public Service enhanced the program by offering two $1,000 scholarships for Rising Stars students. Only youths who have been selected and certified as Rising Stars by the University of Denver during the 2012-13 academic year are eligible to receive a scholarship award, which was administered via lottery selection by Public Service Credit Union. In keeping with current NCAA regulations, all scholarship winners must not have entered seventh grade for boys and ninth grade for girls.
