DENVER- The No. 70 University of Denver women’s tennis team will face the University of Nevada, Reno on Saturday at 4 p.m., MT in Reno, Nev.
The Pioneers defeated the University of New Mexico 4-3 on Tuesday. Last week, Denver women’s tennis suffered two defeats. DU first lost 4-3 to the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., on Friday and again to No. 54 Wichita State 4-3 on Saturday.
After a strong showing against CU and Wichita state, Sonja Radosevic (Miami, Fla.) was named Summit League Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Radosevic received her first league honor after going 2-0 in singles play during the week. Against No. 54 Wichita State, she scored a straight-set win over Lucia Kovalova (0 and 3) at No. 3 singles and teamed with Kathryn Hughes for an 8-7 win over WSU’s tandem of Blaskova/Kovalova at No. 1 doubles. Playing the No. 4 singles position against Colorado, Radosevic won in straight sets (1 and 2) over Nuria Ormeno Ruiz.
Action begins for Denver women’s tennis in Reno, Nev., at 4:00 p.m., MT on Saturday.
