DENVER – The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team moved up to No. 20 in the latest edition of the IWLCA coaches poll, released Monday. The Pioneers (11-1, 5-0 MPSF) are fresh off two conference wins during their California road trip, highlighted by a 13-12 upset over then-No. 8 Stanford on Friday night. DU also topped MPSF foe UC Davis 9-6 on Sunday afternoon.
Defending national champion North Carolina (12-1) continues to hold the top spot in the IWLCA poll, earning 320 first place votes. UNC is followed by Maryland (13-1), Syracuse (12-1) and Florida (13-2), while Northwestern (8-3) rounds out the top-five.
Denver is on a nine game win streak heading into their MPSF showdown against San Diego State at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Friday at 4 p.m. MT. The game will be televised live on Altitude Sports Network.
