DENVER - University of Denver women's lacrosse head coach Liza Kelly has announced that Matt Lawicki has been promoted to associate head coach to start the upcoming season.
"I'm honored to receive this promotion," said Lawicki. "I would like to thank Peg [Bradley-Doppes], Ron [Grahame] and Liza for their guidance and support, as well as our student-athletes for their hard work, dedication and will. I am very excited for the future of Denver Lacrosse, and I look forward to reaching new heights on the national stage."
Entering his third season with the Pioneers, Lawicki has helped Denver to an impressive 37-5 record. In 2013, the Pioneers appeared in their first NCAA Tournament where they beat Jacksonville to advance to the Round of 16, and broke a team record by winning 15-straight games.
"Matt has been instrumental in increasing the success that we've had, and I think he's brought a lot of exciting ideas to Denver lacrosse," said Kelly. "He's a passionate leader and excited about what we're trying to build here as a program, and I think the opportunity to elevate him to the associate head coach is earned. I know he's going to continue to make this program better."
