Describe your first coaching job?
My first coaching job was in high school as a coach at Excel basketball camps, I just tried to get the young kids to play for one another and compete each and every possession. It definitely made me love coaching to see their growth over a short period of time.
Favorite game you have coached in?
My favorite game we have coached in would be the Louisiana Tech WAC championship game. Our players had such focus and will to compete that day. They accomplished something that had never been done here at DU and anytime you are a part of something like that it’s memorable.
Any superstitions on gameday?
I always eat the pregame meal the same way if possible, more of a habit then superstition.
Who would you pick to be in your golfing foursome?
Great question-to win a tournament or for pure fun would provide two different answers.
Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lindsay Kuhle to learn about the game from such legends and share it with my wife.
To win a tournament I would likely go with Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, I think that would be a good foursome, my handicap would likely help them out too.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
That is a secret. I don’t want anyone showing up at the same beach. I would have to say that Hawaii and Italy have been my two favorite spots to vacation.
What is your favorite app?
What is an App? J/K, I like Pandora for music, and the WatchESPN app to keep me up to date on what’s going on with sports and games
What is your favorite restaurant on the road?
Whatever restaurant Coach Scott wants to go to, you have to make the best of each place you try anyways, and there are so many great family style places we like to try.
If you weren’t coaching what would you be doing?
Does coaching another sport count, that would be my top choice, outside of that I think it would be between being an Athletic Director or being a private pilot for a sports team or CEO of a major company.
Who was your favorite basketball player growing up?
Pistol Pete Maravich was my favorite non-living player as I grew up and Michael Jordan was my favorite living legend.
What do you remember about your first game as a coach?
Good question, I think it was how efficient we were on offense and that I loved the experience of being a part of group that strived to be excellence in all we did.
