DENVER -- University of Denver women's basketball head coach Kerry Cremeans announced the hiring of David Elliott as one of her new assistant coaches.
Elliott joins the Pioneers after being an assistant women's basketball coach at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., since 2013. For the last two seasons with the Prairie Fire program Elliott assisted in all daily basketball activities, including player development, recruiting, strength and conditioning and travel.Â
"I am so excited to be a Pioneer," David Elliott said. "I would like to thank Coach Cremeans for this incredible opportunity to join her already outstanding coaching staff at the University of Denver. I love Coach Cremeans' energy, passion, and how much she truly cares for her players. I look forward to doing everything I can to positively contribute to this very special basketball program and University," said Elliott.
In just his second season on staff at Knox College, Elliott was named associate head coach in March of 2014 by Knox head coach Emily Cline.
Before Elliott's time at Knox College he coached at Columbia University in New York during the 2012-13 season. His responsibilities at Columbia included recruiting (recruited a nationwide 2013 class), low-post and guard development, half-court team defense, designing and directing the preseason conditioning program for all players, film breakdown and exchange, as well as organizing and directing Columbia women's basketball clinics for underprivileged youth in the New York City area.
Prior to arriving at Columbia, Elliott was a graduate assistant women's basketball coach at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York between 2010 and 2012. He helped lead the team to two straight appearances in the conference tournament, the best conference record (12-4) in five years, and a runner-up finish in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Metro postseason tournament.
Elliott received a Bachelors' degree in Microbiology from the University of Arizona in 2009, before going on to earn a Masters' degree in Organizational Learning and Human Resource Development from St. John Fisher College in 2012.
Elliott joins current assistant coaches Seth Kushkin and Nettie Respondek on coach Cremeans' staff.
