DENVER - The University of Denver women's golf team continues its spring run down south by heading off to Athens, Georgia this upcoming weekend for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The three-day tournament is set to begin on Friday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Par for the 7,253-yard course is 71.
The 12-team loaded field consists of the top seven teams in the country in the most recent women's team rankings in Golfstat.
The three-day event has a special scoring system. Friday consists of an 18-hole stroke play, with team and individual medalist honors being handed out at the end of the round. Teams that finish in the top eight will be placed in the red bracket and the final four will be placed in the white bracket for match-play rules on Saturday and Sunday.
Two rounds will of match play will be conducted on Saturday with the losers of the first round in the red bracket dropping into the white bracket.
Sunday consists of one round of match play to determine a winner.
The Pioneers will take Mariell Bruun (Larvik, Norway) Jessica Carty (Holywood, Northern Ireland), Sophie Newlove (Nottingham, England), Jessica Dreesbeimdieke (Windhoek, Namibia) and Katharina Baratta (Klosterneuburg, Austria).
