DU MEN'S GOLF ANNOUNCES 2016-17 SCHEDULE

June 14, 2016

The University of Denver men's golf team will compete in 10 tournaments during the 2016-17 regular season before heading to Newton, Kan. to take part in the Summit League Championship, head coach Erik Billinger announced today. In addition to several familiar events, the Pioneers will host the Paintbrush Invitational during the autumn portion of their upcoming schedule and also travel to Eugene, Ore. to compete in the Duck Invitational in the spring.

"Our schedule this year is very competitive and I am ecstatic about it," says Billinger. "I am thrilled to announce the addition of our home tournament at Colorado Golf Club in the fall, and the addition of the Duck Invitational hosted by Oregon, who just won the national championship. This schedule is designed to have our student-athletes see the best teams in the country and learn how to compete with them and beat them. It also gives our players the opportunity to earn national recognition and prepare their games for the (PGA) Tour after college. I am truly excited for our upcoming season and we can't wait to get started.'

Denver will kick off the season in Colorado for its first tournament of the 2016-17 season when they play in the Ram Masters Invitational (Sept. 19-20) in Fort Collins. A trip to Albuquerque, NM to play in the Tucker Invitational (Sept. 23-24) will follow.

In October, the Pioneers are set to host in the Paintbrush Invitational at Colorado Golf Club (Oct. 10-11) in Parker. The Crimson & Gold will close out their fall schedule with a trip to Stockton, Calif., for the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational (Oct. 27-29).

The Pioneers will resume their schedule on January 23rd at the Arizona Intercollegiate (Jan. 23-24), held in Tucson, Ariz. DU will then head to California to play the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate (Feb. 17-19) in Palm Springs, Calif.

Denver will open March with a run in Oregon, as they compete in the Bandon Dunes Championship (March 12-14) in Bandon, Ore. as well as 'The Duck' Invitational (March 27-28) in Eugene. April's slate opens with a trip to Phoenix, Ariz. for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 10-11). The Pioneers close out their regular season tournament schedule at the Hawkeye Invitational (April 15-16) in Iowa City, Iowa.
