DENVER - University of Denver freshman Emily Glynn (Longmont, Colo.) was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week for the final week of the season, the conference announced on Monday.
Glynn set a new career high of 9.925 on bars at Arkansas on Friday, helping Denver to tie the program record on the event (49.450). She also added a 9.825 on floor, which is only .025 off of her career best. Her score on floor contributed to Denver's season-high road score on the event (49.275) and helped DU to its top overall road score of the season (196.725).
This is the first conference award of Glynn's career.
This is also the final week for awards from the Big 12 Conference. In total, four DU gymnasts captured a total of eight honors: three from sophomore Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.); two each from junior Kaitlyn Schou (Orlando, Fla.) and freshman Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.); and one from Glynn.
No. 13 Denver joins No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 25 West Virginia and Iowa State at the 2018 Big 12 Championships on Saturday, March 24, in Ames, Iowa. The meet is set for a 3:00 p.m. MT/4:00 p.m. CT start.
