DENVER – The University of Denver women's volleyball program has promoted Jessica Aschenbrenner to assistant coach, as announced Thursday by head coach Tom Hogan.

Aschenbrenner recently completed her second season as the Director of Volleyball Operations at Denver, where she was responsible for providing administrative, logistical and technical coordination for the team.

"I am thrilled and honored to be named the Assistant Coach at Denver," said Aschenbrenner. "I want to thank Karlton Creech, Ron Grahame, Tom Hogan and the entire athletic administration for this opportunity to progress my career within this program. Over the last two years, I have developed a strong passion for this University and ability to develop the amazing student-athletes on our team. I am looking forward to working closely with this staff to take this program to the next level."

Aschenbrenner joined the Pioneer family after spending the 2016 season as a volunteer assistant for the Colorado Buffaloes. While at CU, she was tasked with on-court training, video coordination, recording statistics, scouting opponents and more.

"Promoting Jessica to the assistant coach position is a perfect fit and a huge win for our program," said Hogan. "She has a deep knowledge and passion for our university, our systems, our strategies, our players, and our culture. She is a rising talent in collegiate volleyball with incredible potential and a sharp, perceptive mind. She is a student of the game and is constantly looking for ways to innovate and improve our program. We are all very excited for her to begin her coaching career here at Denver, and we look forward to seeing the countless ways she will continue to grow her contributions to our program's success."

Prior to her coaching career, Aschenbrenner was a libero/defensive specialist for the Buffs and became a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention selection. She graduated with a degree in marketing in 2014.
