Denver Gymnastics Jumps to No. 9 Nationally with Record NQS

DU sets new program record for highest NQS (197.580) in returning to top 10

DENVER – The University of Denver gymnastics team is ranked No. 9 in the Week 10 Road to Nationals rankings, which were released on Monday.

Denver posted the third-highest road score in program history (197.625) in its first-place finish at a Missouri quad meet on Sunday, the first of three-straight road meets for DU to end the 2024 regular season.

Rankings are now determined by National Qualifying Score (NQS), which is calculated using the six highest scores of the season, at least three of which must be from away meets. The highest of the six scores is dropped, and the remaining five scores are averaged.

198.000 – Home
197.775 – Home
197.625 - Away

Denver's current NQS of 197.580 became the new program record for highest NQS, topping the previous record of 197.545 in 2019. It is just the second time DU has held an NQS of 197.5+.

For the second week in a row, Denver improved its NQS by more than a tenth, nearly increasing it by a tenth and a half following the Missouri meet.

DU increased its team event NQSs on vault, bars and beam, and saw a three-spot jump in the vault rankings back into the top 10. The team maintained its No. 5 bars rankings while staying within one spot of last week's beam and floor rankings.

Three of DU's event NQSs are now ranked in the program's top three with bars moving up to the No. 2 spot and vault jumping to No. 3. The team's floor NQS remains as the second-highest in school history.
