Denver Stays at No. 6 and 5 in Hockey Polls

Pioneers coming off a home sweep vs. Miami

DENVER – The Denver Pioneers hockey team stayed put in the latest national rankings that were released on Monday, remaining at No. 6 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 5 on the USA Hockey list.

Denver earned a weekend sweep of then-No. 19 Miami, posting a 4-0 shutout on Friday before picking up a 3-2 win on Saturday. The Pioneers haven't lost in regulation in 11 straight contests and haven't lost by more than one goal all season.

No. 1 Michigan and No. 3 Michigan State also stayed put after they renewed their rivalry against one another with split in the home-and-home series, with both winning on the road. Wisconsin also stayed at No. 2 but earned more first-place votes after earning two blowout victories at Notre Dame.

NCHC-foe North Dakota moved up to No. 4 in the USCHO.com ranking but stayed at No. 6 in the USA Hockey poll, while Minnesota Duluth came in at No. 5 and 4 in the two polls. Behind Denver is Western Michigan at No. 7 in USCHO.com and No. 8 in the USA Hockey ranking.

Dartmouth—the only undefeated team in the nation at 10-0-0—continued to climb in the rankings to No. 8 in USCHO.com and No 7 in USA Hockey while earning one first-place vote in each poll.

The NCHC has one more ranked team in Colorado College at No. 19/19, and its five total ranked squads are second-most among all leagues. Additionally, its four squads in the top 10 are tied with the Big Ten Conference for the best.

Fellow league members Miami, Arizona State and St. Cloud State earned votes in the USCHO.com ranking while MU and ASU earned nods from the electorate in the USA Hockey poll.

UP NEXT: Denver wraps up its first half of its season with a road series at St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday. It will be the team's final games before going on a two-week holiday break.
