Lindsay Kuhle

Lindsay Kuhle

Kuhle will be entering her ninth season as DU's head coach in 2020-21.

Kuhle was named the second women's golf head coach at the University of Denver in February, 2013. Kuhle (Hulwick) spent seven seasons on the DU staff from 2005-12, including three as an associate head coach. Kuhle also spent the 2012-13 season at the University of Georgia as an assistant coach.

Kuhle's guidance of the Pioneers in her first campaign saw her recognized as the WAC Coach of the Year in 2013 and the Summit League Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019 to go along with six conference/league championships and seven straight NCAA Regional appearances (18 in a row as a program).

During her 15 years with the Crimson and Gold with Kuhle on staff, Denver has always finished inside the top 75 in the Golfstat/Golfweek rankings. Kuhle has 30 team wins to add to the resume while on staff at DU. The last five years her team has earned over a 3.72 gpa, and during the 2019-2020 they finished with a 3.85 gpa on the year, the highest in program history.

In her eighth year in charge, Kuhle had a season to remember before it was abruptly cut short by the NCAA in March. The eight-year veteran coach had one of the most talented and deep teams in recent memory, smashing a number of records along the way.

The Pioneers were a force to be reckoned with, setting a new single-season team scoring average of 289.75, nearly seven strokes better than the previous mark set in 2017-18. Leading the way for the squad was the duo of senior Mary Weinstein and freshman sensation Anna Zanusso.

DU also set new team records for 54-hole team total (16-under, Westbrook Invitational) and rounds of par or better (14).

Under Kuhle's renowned development style, the duo posted the two lowest scoring averages in program history with Zanusso at one (71.63) as a freshman and Weinstein (72.46) not far off.

Zanusso, the highest rated incoming player ever in program history, hit the ground running under Kuhle, picking up two individual wins in her freshman campaign while setting new 18-hole (11-under), 36-hole (14-under) and 54-hole (16-under) scoring records along the way. Her outstanding play under Kuhle helped result in an invitation to the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the first Pioneer to receive an invite to the prestigious event. Her 11-under second round at the Westbrook Invitational tied the NCAA record for low round by a player.

Zanusso also became the first DU women's golfer to be named Summit League Female Athlete of the Month when she received the honor for her stellar play in February.

But the sensational freshman wasn't the only one to have her moments. Weinstein continued to thrive under Kuhle, racking up two Summit League Player of the Week honors in the shortened spring season. The Highlands Ranch native finished up her career as the program's all-time scoring average leader at 73.07.

In 2014, Kuhle coached Tonje Daffinrud to a national appearance at the NCAA Championship in Tulsa as an individual. Daffinrud was a two-time All-American selection and last year a First Team NGCA All-American.

Daffinrud, senior had seven Top-12 finishes, the lowest season scoring average in Pioneer history, 72.21, and was the 9th best player in Golfstat Individual rankings for the 2013-2014 season. She was also named to the Summit League All-Academic team.

During her first stint at DU, Kuhle (Hulwick) helped the Pioneers to seven straight Sun Belt Conference Championships and seven consecutive Regional Championship appearances, as well as the program's first-ever regional crown at the 2008-09 East Regional in Gainesville, Fla.

Kuhle (Hulwick) also helped the Pioneers to three straight NCAA National Championship appearances (2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09) and once as individual (2009-10), including the program's best finish of fifth at the 2009 Championships. As an associate head coach, she coached two All-Americans; Stephanie Sherlock, a three time NGCA All-American and Dawn Shockley.

Since 2005, she has coached 5 WGCA All-Americans, 41 WGCA All-Scholar athletes, 13 conference team champions, 30 team titles, 22 individual titles, and 13 years (2005-2015, 2017-2018, 2020) end of season National Golfstat ranking in the top 55.
