Men's Swimming Finishes Fourth, Women Sixth at CSU

The men tallied 438 points, ranking them behind Air Force (1,078.5), Wyoming (811) and Utah (692.5). The women's 222.5 points put them behind the host Rams (875.5), Fresno State (800), Wyoming (745), Utah (480.5) and New Mexico (437).
Junior Brian Keats (Toronto, Ontario / North Toronto HS / Univ. of New Mexico) was the star of the night for the Pioneers, sweeping both backstroke titles on the night. He started by winning the 100-yard backstroke in 52.59 seconds, out-touching the competition by a whopping 0.82 seconds. He later added the 200 back title when he obliterated the field in 1:53.71 to win by over three seconds.
Joining Keats as top-three finishers for the men included senior Eric Schneider (Englewood, Colo. / Regis Jesuit HS) who was second in the 200 breast (2:11.99) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.23); senior Robert Brooks (Denver, Colo. / Oakland HS / Cumberland College) who was third in the 100 free (48.31);
Other men's swimmers finishing in the top eight included sophomore Chase Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Arapahoe HS) who was seventh in the 200 back (2:01.79); sophomore Rob Converse (Piedmont, Calif. / Piedmont HS) who placed eighth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:24.38); freshman Nick Boorman who was eighth in the 200 free (1:47.43);
Leading the way for the women was junior Sarah Corcoran (Denver, Colo. / South HS / Metro State), who was sixth in the 100 free in 54.67. Senior Kerith Kanaber (Littleton, Colo. / St. Mary's Academy) was eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.70).
The Pioneers' next meet is Saturday, Nov. 11 vs. Colorado School of Mines. The meet begins at noon in El Pomar Natatorium.
