HANOVER, N.H. (Apr. 2) Schuyler Minert scored three goals to lead host Dartmouth to a 10-8 victory over the University of Denver in men's lacrosse action at Scully-Fahey Field on Sunday. The Big Green (3-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with the win while the Pioneers (6-3) have dropped three of their last five contests.
Dartmouth, which never trailed, twice opened up two-goal leads in the first period. Minert and Casey Burlage gave the Big Green a 2-0 lead six minutes into game only to see the Pioneers rally behind goals from Chad Wittman and Mike Kenlay. David Farber and Minert again put the Big Green up by two tallies but Mike Law and Wittman evened the score at four after the opening frame.
Connor Price and Jeremy Desor made the score 6-4 in favor of Dartmouth by recording the first two markers of the second period before the Pioneers again tied the game on goals by McAdory Lipscomb and Mike Kenlay. The Big Green, however, took an 8-6 advantage and regained the lead for good when Price and Burlage both found the back of the net in the last 1:10 prior to halftime.
Lipscomb brought the Pioneers to within one when he scored at 12:10 of the third period only to see Minert score his third goal of the game less than six minutes later. Dartmouth's Georges Dyer sealed the win with a goal at 3:11 of the fourth quarter. Law added Denver's final goal at 2:34 of the final stanza.
The Pioneers play their first home game in nearly a month on Friday, April 7, when they welcome Manhattan to the Mile High City. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
