Former University of Denver right wing, Joe Murphy, has signed with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League, the Senators announced Friday, July 13.

Murphy was a four-year letterwinner at Denver, playing for the Pioneers from 1995 to 1999. During that time, he posted 86 points on 19 goals and 67 assists in 146 games, and helped Denver to the NCAA tournament in 1997 and 1999.

Following his collegiate career, the undrafted Murphy joined Huntsville of the CHL for the 1999 playoffs. He then played half of the 1999-00 season with Roanoke of the ECHL, before closing the season with the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Last season, Murphy scored 15 goals and added 20 assists for 35 points in 74 outings in his second season with Rochester.
