Cross Country Competes at Sun Belt Conference Championships

DENTON, Texas - The University of Denver men's and women's cross country teams competed today at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Denton, Texas. The men's team finished in eighth place and the women's team finished in fifth place.

Sophomore Hans Leithe (Jaren, Norway) led the Pioneer men with a time of 28:53.35 in the 8k run for 33rd place. Freshman Amund Hanson (Aarnes, Norway) finished 37th with a time of 29:08.31 and junior Dylan Prosser (Anchorage,Alaska) finished with a time of 29:41.23 for a 43rd-place finish.

The women's fifth-place finish ties the overall best finish in Sun Belt Conference history, when the team finished 5th in 1999. Sophomore Tara Hamilton (Anchorage, Alaska) led the Pioneer women with an 18th-place finish with a time of at 24:43.44. At 26th place with a time of 25:28.34 was sophomore Karin Camenisch (Klosters, Switzerland) and sophomore Joslin Heyward (Sheridan, Wyo.) came in 28th with a time of 25:28.78.
