With its victory Friday night over Minnesota-Duluth, the University of Denver hockey team has assured itself of hosting the first round of the WCHA Playoffs March 8, 9 and 10 (if necessary). First round playoff tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2002, at the Ritchie Center box office and will also be available through Ticketmaster (on-line and phone).
Ticket prices will remain the same as for the regular season at $20, $17 and $14 depending on the location of the seats. Children and seniors are $9, and students are $4. Playoff tickets are included in season ticket holders season ticket package.
All 10 WCHA teams make the playoffs, with the top five teams hosting the first round. The Pioneers are now guaranteed to finish no worse than fifth, marking the first time since the 1998-99 season Denver will host a playoff series, and the first-time ever at Magness Arena. Denver's opponent has yet to be determined.
