Women's Tennis Falls to Arkansas-Little Rock, 5-2

The University of Denver women's tennis team lost to Arkansas-Little Rock, 5-2, Sunday (Feb. 24) in Sun Belt Conference action. The match closed Denver's three-day trip to Las Cruces, N.M., where the Pioneers finished 1-2 in their three matches. The loss dropped Denver's record to 4-4 overall, 1-2 in SBC action.
The Pioneers earned the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, freshmen Yanick Dullens and Barbara Kourim defeated UALR's Maria Julieta Lillo and Layla Tohme, 8-2. After a loss at No. 2 doubles, the Pioneers sealed the point as freshman Stephanie Ginsburg and junior Rossi Thomas topped Alejandra Lopez and Carmen Torres, 8-5, on the third court.
Denver won just one of the six singles matches, however, as the Trojans earned the 5-2 win. The Pioneers' lone victory came at No. 2 singles, as Dullens defeated Montserrat Flores in straight sets.
The Pioneers (4-4, 1-2) will take a week off before returning to the courts on Mar. 9. Denver will host Wyoming at 11 a.m. at the Stapleton Tennis Pavilion.
