The University of Denver men's golf team moved up four places to finish eighth at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by the University of California-Santa Barbara Friday. The Pioneers shot 902, 36 behind winner San Diego State. Denver tied with San Jose State and edged out Colorado State by one stroke.
Junior Tony Giarratano (Castle Rock, Colo.) tied for 17th to lead the Pioneers with a three round combined total of 222, including a three-over par 75 in the final round. He was one of four players to shoot 222 for the tournament.
Erik Billinger (Broomfield, Colo.) was Denver's second finisher at 39th, finishing with a round of 76 for a total of 226. Billinger moved up from 44th place on the first day. Tommy Hart (Englewood, Colo.) finished 54th, Barrett Jarosch (Edmonton, Alberta) was 67th and John Hulwick (Littleton, Colo.) was 76th.
