The University of Denver women's tennis team lost its second straight match at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, falling to New Mexico State, 4-0, Saturday (Apr. 20). The Pioneers, who entered the SBC tournament as the No. 8 seed could finish seventh.
Only two of the three doubles matches were completed as New Mexico State won both at No. 2 and No. 3, sealing the first point. On the singles courts, Denver failed to register a victory as the first three matches that finished (No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6) all went in the favor of NMSU. Matches on courts one, two and five were not finished as New Mexico State had earned the four points necessary to seal the win.
The Pioneers will try to finish one place better than their seed as they take on Arkansas-Little Rock later this afternoon (Apr. 20) in the seventh place game. The Pioneers entered the SBC tournament as the No. 8 seed and will finish no lower than that. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. MT.
