The second outing in the Pioneers' four-game home stand will feature Patriot League opponent Hobart this Saturday (April 12) at 1 p.m. MST. The Pioneers are fresh off their 15-2 drubbing of in-state rival Colorado College, and will look towards Saturday's game as a marker for their development before facing three-straight Great Western lacrosse league opponents (Butler, No. 14 Ohio St. and Fairfield). The Statesmen split their two road games last week, including a 10-8 win over Colgate on April 2 and a 14-10 loss to Penn. State on April 5. For the first time this season, the game will be broadcast live on the internet at http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/weos/ppr/weos.asx.
THE SERIES: This is the first meeting between the two teams.
SCOUTING HOBART:
* Senior attacker John Bogosian has found net 25 times this
season, which is tied for fifth in the NCAA and is 10th
in the county in points with 33.
* Statesmen senior goalie Mike Borsz is the 17th (59.38
points, lax.com) rated netminder in the country.
* Hobart boasts talent on both sides of the ball, with the
13th ranked offense in the country (10.67 goals per game)
and the 18th ranked defense (8.33 goals allowed per game).
* Before last week's action, the Statesmen lost to No. 3
Syracuse and No. 15 Bucknell by a combined total of just
four goals.
SCOUTING DENVER:
* The Pioneers are now the sixth-best scoring team in the
nation with 11.88 goals per game (95 total goals).
* Denver's "D" is 10th in the NCAA, allowing just 7.25
goals per game.
* The win against CC marked the second time in four games
the Pioneers have earned goals from 11 different players
and scored at least 15 goals (23-3 against Siena).
* Senior Mike Kenlay (Wilmette, Ill.) and sophomore
Matt Brown (Burnaby, B.C.)
currently lead the team in scoring with 17 points each
(8g, 9a; 13g, 4a, respectively).
PIONEER REWIND - COLORADO COLLEGE: The Pioneer men's lacrosse team found offensive contributions from 11 players for the second time this season as Denver downed Colorado College 15-2 at Pioneer Field on April 4. Freshman Adam Miller (Columbus, Ohio) led all scorers with two goals and two assists for four points, while sophomore Brian Sanders (Columbus, Ohio) got the nod to start in goal and responded by allowing just two tallies off 18 CC shots.
ON THE HORIZON: Denver's will close out its four-game home stand the following week with GWLL foes Butler and No. 14 Ohio State coming to Colorado for games on April 18 (7:30 p.m.) and April 20 (12 p.m.), respectively.
