Pioneer Hockey Adds King

Sept. 30, 2003

DENVER - The University of Denver men's hockey has added freshman Danny King (Colorado Springs, Colo.) as the team's third goaltender for the 2003-04 season. The Colorado Springs, Colo. native joins the team as a walk-on.

King previously played goaltender for the Huntsville Wildcats of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJAHL) during the 2002-03 season. His accomplishments include being named team Most Valuable Player and he led the team for most "Stars of the Game." Prior to his stint with the Wildcats, King played two seasons (2000-02) for the Great Falls Americans of the America West Hockey League (AWHL). While at Great Falls, King earned AWHL Player of the Month and was the winning goaltender of the longest regular-season game in the history of the AWHL.

King graduated in 2000 with honors and a 3.97 grade point average from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs and chose the University of Denver because of its top business and hockey programs.
