LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Denver women's tennis team improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference with a convincing 7-0 win over New Mexico State on Saturday in Las Cruces. Denver rolled to the doubles point with three straight wins and cruised to the 7-0 victory with six consecutive singles wins.
Yanick Dullens (Jr., Susteren, Netherlands), Suzana Maksovic (So., Helsingborg, Sweden), Jenny Trettin (So., Berlin, Germany), Barbara Kourim (Jr., Dallas, Texas), Rachel Sackmaster (Fr., Alpharetta, Ga.) and Beth Messaros (Sr., Gahanna, Ohio) all won their respective singles matches. Dullens, Kourim, Sackmaster and Messaros all won in straight sets.
Dullens and Maksovic won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, Trettin and Kourim won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and freshman Marisa Mechem and Messaros won 8-5 at No. 3.
Denver returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 22 at UTEP.
