The University of Denver men's tennis team won their second consecutive match with a 6-1 win over Boston College at Meadow Creek Raquet Club in Denver. The Pioneers won the doubles point and five of six singles matches for the win.
"We needed to get back on track with our doubles play and we did that tonight," head coach Geoff Young said. "Urban (Ljubic) is starting to play like he did before his injury, and that will help us tremendously this weekend."
Denver won the double point and swept all three matches. Nejc Smole (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and Viktor Zetterholm (Stockholm, Sweden) won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, Hans Peter Gaber (Anger, Austria) and Niki Popovic (Ljubljana, Slovenia) won 8-5 at No. 2 and Urban Ljubic (Ljbuljana, Slovenia) and Jason Tan (Amsterdam, Netherlands) won 8-3 at No. 3.
Gaber, Zetterholm, Ljubic, Tan and Popovic all won their respective singles matches. Smole, the 63rd-ranked player, was upset 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles by BC's Justin Slattery.
