DENVER - Freshman midfielder Kate Broderick's (Chantilly, Va.) three points (2a, 1g) were not enough as the third seeded University of Denver women's lacrosse team fell to the fourth seeded UC Davis Aggies, 11-9, in the consolation game of the Inaugural Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship at Pioneer Field. The Pioneers end their season 7-12, while the Aggies improve to 12-5.

Both teams broke loose early in the game as UC Davis senior Jessie Donohoue converted a Leslie Kado assist just 32 seconds after the opening draw. Broderick then assisted on goals to junior attacker Tara Bourdelaise (Gambrillis, Md.) and sophomore midfielder Steph Greenlees (Lake Forest, Ill.) in the first minute to take a 2-1 lead. Freshman midfielder Liz Dierdorff (Annapolis, Md.) scored two more goals and Broderick fired in her first to help Denver build an 8-5 advantage at the halftime break.

The Aggies took control of the second half. Kelly Albin set up Donohoue on a goal in the 34th minute, then scored her own unassisted goal two minutes later, cutting the lead to one. Albin recorded her third assist of the game - this time to Naomi Coffman - to tie the game at 8-8.

Senior midfielder Patience Baldwin (Baltimore, Md.) converted a free-position shot at 46:04 to give the Pioneers a 9-8 lead, but the margin was short-lived. Alden Monger scored on a Tiffany Lee assist on the subsequent draw for the game's third equalizer.

Kado hit the game-winner at 50:46, finishing a free-position attempt. Katie McMahon matched the feat with 2:57 remaining to seal the victory.

Junior goalie Steph Schneider (Leesburg, Va.) made 15 saves in the loss, while UC Davis' Kristen Braasch made 13. The Pioneers committed 10 turnovers, compared to just four for the Aggies. Denver was 6-of-9 on clears. UC Davis was 12-of-13, including 8-for-8 in the second half.

Donohoue and McMahon each scored three goals to lead the Aggies.

Greenlees and Baldwin were both named to the MPSF All-Tournament Team.

Baldwin, one of four Pioneer seniors in their final game, finished her career as Denver's all-time leader in points (175) and goals (148) and second all-time in assists (27).

Sophomore attacker Leanne Zilioli scored in the final six seconds of regulation to propel California to a thrilling 11-10 victory over Stanford this afternoon in the MPSF Championship Game.

California's senior attacker Colleen O'Mara and Stanford's sophomore attacker Megan Burker each scored three goals and an assist to lead their respective teams. Both teams kept each other within one goal in the first half that eventually ended in a 4-4 tie.

Stanford managed three two-goal leads in the second period, but California had the last say when they rallied back with three unanswered goals. O'Mara's game-tying goal and Zilioli's game-winning goal came in the final 38 seconds on the clock.
