Bull Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America

TOWSON, Md. - University of Denver senior hockey forward Max Bull (Faribault, Minn.) has been named to the 2004 Academic All-America University Division Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team, it was announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bull, who earned a 3.51 GPA in finance, helped the Pioneers to their first NCAA championship since 1969. He scored 14 points on two goals and 12 assists this season and was one of three Pioneers to play in all 44 games. Bull recorded the game-winning assist in Denver's 1-0 upset win over North Dakota in the NCAA West Regional final and scored 46 points (16 goals, 30 assists) in 154 career games. He helped Denver to the 2002 WCHA regular season and playoff championships. Bull is a three-time All-WCHA Academic selection, two-time Silver Medallion Award winner and Dean's List member. He is the son of Mary and Jim Bull.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
