Pioneers Shut Out Drake, 7-0

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - - The 45th-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team blanked Drake, 7-0, this afternoon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Denver claimed the doubles point in strong fashion and swept all six singles matches to even its dual record at 1-1.
Yanick Dullens (Susteren, Netherlands), Suzana Maksovic (Helsingborg, Sweden), Barbara Kourim (Dallas, Texas), Rachel Sackmaster (Alpharetta, Ga.), Marisa Mechem (Fredericksburg, Texas) and Stephanie Ginsburg (Englewood, Colo.) all won their respective singles matches.
Dullens and Maksovic, Kourim and Crystal Knysh (Encinitas, Calif.) and Sackmaster and Mechem all won 8-1 in their doubles matches.
"We played really well, especially in doubles," head coach Dana Young said. "It's always nice to get the first win of the season."
Denver returns to action tomorrow against No. 43 Iowa in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
