DU Women and Men Finish Fourth at Early Bird

FORT COLLINS - University of Denver divers Aaron Feight (Littleton, Colo.) and Holly Watson (Sugarland, Texas) finished first and second in the 3-meter and 1-meter events, respectively, as the DU men and women's swimming and diving teams both ended the final day of the Early Bird Invitational hosted by Colorado State University in fourth place. The Pioneer women racked up 500 points, while the men finished the day with 339. The TCU women (1,152.50) and men (1,024.50) both took top honors.
Ivy Yi was Denver's next top finisher, scoring 16 points with her third-place finish in the 100-breast (1:08.96). The Pioneers' 200-medly relay team consisting of Erika Ross (Colorado Spring, Colo.), Yi, Oliva Pollard (Wildomar, Calif.) and Hillary Davis (Englewood, Colo.) registered 30 points with as fourth-place showing (1:55.28). DU's 400-free relay team of Daivs, Ross, Yi and Dara Wong (Boulder, Colo.), tallied 28 points by finishing fifth (3:43.84).
The Pioneer men were also led by Daniel Vollmer (Ajax, Ontario), who finished third in the 100-back (53.91). Vollmer, Michael Peterson (Ames, Iowa), Daniel Monsivais (El Paso, Texas) and James Monaghan (Toronto, Ontario) led DU's 400-free relay team to a third-place showing (3:31.70). The Pioneers' 200-medly relay team consisting of Vollmer, Serge Wenzel (Englewood, Colo.), Monsivais and Peterson also had a good showing with a fourth-place finish (1;38.72). The 800-free relay team of Erik Bordwell (Wilmette, Ill.), Monaghan, Eric Wright (Omaha, Neb.) and Peterson tallied 28 points for the men with a fifth-place showing (7:23.50). Bordwell's time of 7:08.52 was good enough for fifth in the 1650-free.
The men and women are both back in action on Oct. 28-29 at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif.
