Denver Women's Soccer Falls To Middle Tennessee, 3-2

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Sophomore Jenna Billingsley's (Littleton, Colo.) two goals weren't enough as the Pioneers fell 3-2, to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this afternoon in Sun Belt Conference action. The Pioneers fall to 7-8-2 (4-3-1 SBC), while Middle Tennessee improves to 11-4-2 (5-1-2 SBC). Goalkeeper Dani Wiley (Littleton, Colo.) made 10 saves in the match.

The Pioneers and the Blue Raiders played evenly throughout the first half, with both teams having several scoring opportunities. The Blue Raiders struck first just one minute into the second half on a goal by Holly Grogan. The Blue Raiders put another one in the net, when Nenita Burgess connected with Rachel Holmes, putting the Blue Raiders up 2-0 early in the second half.

Denver found its offense in the 76th minute when Lleane Grimditch (Boulder, Colo.) collected a long rebound off a cross and connected with Billingsley, who put it in the net for her fourth goal of the season. Grogan sealed the Middle Tennessee victory in the 81st minute when she scooped up a long cross and put it behind Wiley for the score. Grimditch and Billingsley connected for another goal in the 85th minute but it wasn't enough to pull the upset.

The Pioneers conclude regular-season action Sun., Oct. 30 when they travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to take on the Western Kentucky Lady Hilltoppers. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
