Boise, Idaho - The University of Denver women's tennis team swept the University of Idaho in both singles and doubles matches this afternoon, 7-0, to extend the Pioneers' winning streak to three matches. Denver improved their record to 7-2 overall while Idaho dropped to 2-2.
"We've been building on the last couple of matches and I think that we are moving in the right direction," said head coach Dana Young. "We played with great intensity and the ability to execute the starting plan."
Denver got on the scoreboard first with a sweep of doubles for the doubles point and they never looked back. All Denver singles players defeated their opponents in only two sets and kept their opponent within three points in each set. Senior Yanick Dullens (Susteren, Netherlands) led the way for Denver with a victory over Idaho's Jessica Hubbard, 6-1, 6-3. Juniors Suzana Maksovic (Helsingborg, Sweden), Jenny Trettin (Berlin, Germany), senior Barbara Kourim (Dallas, Texas) and sophomores Marisa Mechem (Fredericksburg, Texas) and Rachel Sackmaster (Alpharetta, Ga.) each won their respective singles matches.
Denver will return home to play New Mexico at the Monaco Athletic Club on March 5. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
