"It was a great weekend for us winning back-to-back wins at home," said Munro. "I thought we did a lot of things right and really dominated the game. We needed these two wins heading into next weekend's game against Air Force."

Denver started off hot in the first period and got the first three tallies on goals from freshmen Michael Goltra (Washington, N.C. ) and Brett Koll (Fort Collins, Colo.), and senior Scott Davidson (Guilford, Conn.), before Butler got on the board with 6:34 remaining in the first period on a goal from Grant Albertson. The Pioneers ended the period with a four goal advantage (5-1) with senior Geoff Snider (Calgary, Alberta) and Davidson firing the last two goals of the period past Butler keeper Sam Ashley.

The Pioneers picked up right where they left off in the second period and recorded three more goals from Goltra, junior Adam Goodwin (Columbus, Ohio) and senior Greer Hanlon (Libertyville, Ill.) ahead of Albertson's second goal of the game with 5:12 left in the second. Sophomore Drew Sherman (Dublin, Ohio) scored his first goal of the season on a feed from sophomore Ryan Zordani (Littleton, Colo.) with 1:27 remaining in the half and junior Adam Swain (West Simsbury, Conn.) added one with 35 seconds remaining in the half to give Denver an eight goal advantage heading into the locker room.

The Pioneers recorded four more goals in the third period, from Goodwin, Zordani and two from senior Matt Brown (Burnaby, B.C.) to extend their lead to 12 points (14-2). Albertson added his third and final goal of the game with just over two minutes left in the third to cut Denver's lead to nine.

Butler attempted a comeback in the fourth period and tallied four goals, but it was no match for the Pioneers as Denver dominated the game and recorded three additional goals in the fourth from senior Erik Swanson (Glenview, Ill.), sophomore Brandon Barcus (Dublin, Ohio) and Sherman to seal the victory.
