Win Over Troy Makes it Six Straight

TROY, Ala. - A four goal second half propelled Denver to its sixth straight win on Sunday as the Pioneers beat Troy 5-1 in Troy, Ala.

The Pioneers' scoring started when senior Lleane Grimditch (Boulder, Colo) scored an unassisted goal in the 19th minute. This was Grimditch's sixth goal of the season tying her with junior Jenna Billingsley (Littleton, Colo.).

After the Trojans tied the game in the first half, the Pioneers (10-2-0) (6-0-0) eliminated all doubt by scoring the next four goals of the match. Freshman Katie Culp (Carlsbad, Calif.) scored the game winning goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute which started a string of three goals in less than 10 minutes for the Pioneers.

Billingsley and freshman Kelli Breidenbach (Fort Collins, Colo.) each scored goals for the Pioneers, with the final goal being an own goal by the Trojans.

Senior Dani Wiley (Littleton, Colo.) earned the win, her sixth consecutive and tenth overall.

Denver sits atop the Sun Belt Conference standings with a 6-0-0 record. The Pioneers return home to take on UALR on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
