LAFAYETTE, La. - University of Denver sophomore Dana Schonberger (Littleton, Colo.) scored her first goal of the season Thursday, leading the top-seeded University of Denver women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout win over Florida Atlantic in the semifinal match of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Pioneers extended their winning streak to 13 matches and will face North Texas in the SBC title match on Saturday at noon.

Schonberger scored her first goal of the season in the second minute of the game and that was all the Pioneers would need. Schonberger now has four points during the SBC tournament, second to junior Taryn Hemmings' (Greeley, Colo.) eight points. Hemmings scored another goal on Thursday when she took a pass from senior Laura Mann (Fort Collins, Colo.) and found the back of the net in the 26th minute of the game.

"Florida Atlantic looked really good," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "They aren't the same team we saw earlier this year. We got the 2-0 lead and had to work really hard in the second half to keep the lead."

Schonberger got the Pioneers on the board off a pass from freshman Lizzy Carlson (Hololulu, Hawaii) in the second minute. Denver followed that with a tally from Hemmings in the 26th minute for a commanding 2-0 lead. That's all DU would need to advance to the SBC title game against North Texas, who came from behind to beat Middle Tennessee, 3-1.

Denver is looking for its fourth Sun Belt tournament title in six years, the last three coming in 2001, 2002 and 2003. North Texas is looking for a threepete, winning the last two SBC tournament titles.

The winner of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's College Cup.
