PORTLAND, Ore. - The University of Denver women's basketball team fell 75-52 to the University of Portland Thursday evening at the Chiles Center in Portland, Ore. Denver falls to 3-4 on the season while UP improves to 6-4.

Senior Tyesha Lowery (Arlington, Texas) and freshman Brianna Culberson (Jefferson City, Mo.) led the Pioneers in scoring with 11 points each, while junior Sara Benham (Muleshoe, Texas) led DU with nine rebounds. Denver shot just 26.2 percent for the game.

Denver got behind after an 11-1 run by Portland early in the first half and the Pilots never looked back. Denver went on a 10-4 run to close within 11 late in the second half but it was not enough to overcome UP's quick start.

Portland was led in scoring by Laiken Dollente with 23 points.

In the first half DU matched the lowest point total since Nov. 25, 2005 against Virginia Tech, going to the locker room trailing 36-14. Denver shot just 20.0 from the field and the Pilots pulled down 26 rebounds to Denver's 16.

DU plays its first home game since November 13 as they welcome the Air Force Academy Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in Magness Arena. The game will be aired on Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain.
