Boulder - The University of Denver women's soccer team (4-2-1) dropped just their second game of the season, a 1-0 loss to No. 14 Colorado (5-1-1), Friday at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colo.

Colorado's Jess Quador scored the lone goal of the game on a shot from about 15 yards out into the top left corner of the net just out of the outstretched arm of senior goalkeeper Dani Wiley (Littleton, Colo.).

"She just hit the shot of her life," said head coach Jeff Hooker. "There's not much you can do about a shot like that."

The Pioneers had three shots on goal, all in the first half. Freshman Lizzy Carlson (Honolulu, Hawaii) put two on net and sophomore Katie Oates (Littleton, Colo.) added the Pioneers' third.

"We had some good chances in the first half, we just need to work on getting all of our players involved in the play," said Hooker

Denver is now 3-2 in 1-0 games this season. The Pioneers open Sun Belt Conference play against Louisiana Lafayette on Friday, Sept. 22 in Lafayette, La.
