Lafayette, La. - The University of Denver women's soccer team knocked off Sun Belt Conference foe Louisiana Lafayette 3-2 on Friday in Lafayette. The Pioneers improve to 5-2-1 while Lafayette falls to 3-4-2. The Pioneers are now 9-0-1 all-time against the Ragin' Cajuns.
Senior Lleane Grimditch (Boulder, Colo.) scored her third and fourth goals of the season. The two goals were assisted by junior Jenna Billingsley (Littleton, Colo) and sophomore Jessica Keller (Arvada, Colo.). Grimditch leads the Pioneers with 10 points (4G, 2A).
Billingsley added her third goal on the season which is second on the team. She now has eight points on the season which is also second on team.
The Pioneers 11 individual points are the most points the team has scored in any game this season.
"We played a good game and scored two great goals," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "We got everyone involved and spread the ball around well."
Senior Dani Wiley (Littleton, Colo.) needed just one save to get her fifth win of the season while the Pioneers posted a season high 18 shots, 10 off the foot of Grimditch.
The Pioneer wrap up their current road swing on Sunday Sept. 24 at noon against Louisiana Monroe.
