MURFREESBORO, Tenn. The University of Denver women’s soccer team held Middle Tennessee to only four shots, but the Pioneers fell to the Blue Raiders 1-0 on Friday evening.

 

Middle Tennessee’s Holly Grogan stole the ball and beat sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Snyder (Fort Collins, Colo.) from five yards out during the 32^nd minute for the game’s only goal.

 

The goal, only the second that Denver has allowed during Sun Belt Conference play, snapped a five-game shutout streak for the Pioneers (8-4-4, 5-2-2 SBC).

 

Overall in the contest, DU outshot the Blue Raiders, 10-4.

 

The Blue Raiders improved to 9-5-3 overall and 6-2-1 in the SBC to move past Denver into third place in the conference.

 

The Pioneers continue their road trip at Western Kentucky on Sunday at noon.
