Box Score MIAMI, Fla. Sophomore forward Mariah Johnston (Littleton, Colo.) had a goal and an assist on Sunday, helping the Pioneers to a 3-0 victory over Florida International.
Denver (5-3-3, 2-1-1 SBC) got help early as Florida International (2-6-1, 0-4-0 SBC) scored an own goal just under 14 minutes into the game.
The Pioneers did not score again until Johnston buried a pass from junior midfielder Sarah Martinez (Golden, Colo.) in the 87th minute.
Just 74 seconds later, Johnston fed junior midfielder Carrie Blankenbuhler (Littleton, Colo.) for an insurance goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Snyder (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) recorded her fifth shutout of the season after tallying a pair of saves.
The Pioneers return home to Pioneer Field for the final time this season. DU will face South Alabama on Friday and Troy on Sunday. Denver’s season ends with five games on the road before the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
