Thirty-three days, three states and two postponements after the beginning of the Montana State Invitational, the University of Denver finally came away with second place following the giant slalom races on Thursday.

The Pioneers scored 550 points, trailing Colorado's 579.5 points.

Adam Cole (Park City, Utah) won his first race with the Pioneers after finishing second in both the slalom and giant slalom at the Denver Invitational last weekend.

Ian Dunlop's (Hartland, Wis.) finished fourth, and Francesco Ghedina (Cortina, Italy) was sixth, propelling the men's team to a win in the event. John Buchar (Ostersund, Sweden), who won the slalom last weekend, finished in 13th.

Leading the women's team, Jenny Tank (Lenggries, Germany) finished third, while Karine Falck-Pedersen (Slependen, Norway) and Claire Abbe (Burnsville, Minn.) were sixth and 12th, respectively, putting the women in second place in the GS.

Lindsay McClure (Hood River, Ore.) finished 14th, Molly Ryan (Big Sky, Mont.) 17th and Courtney Saario (Sammamish, Wash.) 28th.

The competition was originally scheduled for Jan. 6 in Big Sky, Mont., but high winds and poor visibility forced a postponement to Feb. 4, when high winds in Eldora, Colo., necessitated another delay.

The alpine and Nordic teams will take part in the New Mexico Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
