The University of Denver Cheer Team is hosting open tryouts for the 2007-2008 Season.
If you have ever dreamed of becoming a college cheerleader, now is your chance!
Team selection will take place as follows:
5/21/07 1st Open Clinic 6:00-9:00 p.m. Hamilton Gym, Ritchie Center
(also deadline for receipt of out-of-state DVD/video submission)
5/22/07 2nd Open Clinic 6:00-9:00 p.m. Hamilton Gym, Ritchie Center
5/23/07 Finalist Interviews 4:00-9:00 p.m. (invitation only)
Candidates must attend at least one of the two open clinics or submit a DVD/video tryout by May 21, 2007, to be eligible for consideration. Based on talent and performance during the open clinics and on video, candidates may be cut or asked to return for a final selection interview on May 23, 2007. Telephone interviews will take place for out-of-state candidates.
Candidates are evaluated on the following performances (taught/practiced during clinics):
Cheers, Fight Song, Dance, Stunts, Standing back handspring, Optional tumbling passes
I am looking to build a diverse team with individuals able to contribute in different capacities. Athleticism, confidence, and poise make a strong impression.
Prior to participation at the open clinic, or included with your video submission, you must complete and provide a copy of all required forms, found online at www.denverpioneers.cstv.com (forms posted after 4/3/2007).
DVD/video submissions must include demonstration of all skills listed above, except stunting. Please use your current team cheers (perform 2), fight song, and dance (30 secs.) or create original material. If necessary, please seek appropriate spotting assistance for any gymnastic skill. Please do not include a demonstration of stunting.
Your video and all required forms must be received by May 21, 2007.
