DENVER Sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Snyder (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) shut out her third straight opponent, and senior midfielder Jenna Billingsley (Littleton, Colo.) scored her sixth goal of the season, as the Pioneers topped Louisiana at Monroe 1-0 at Pioneer Field on Sunday afternoon.

 

“It was not our best performance, but we got back on track with a win today,” head coach Jeff Hooker said. “We had 21 shots but only six were on goal. We have a little more work to do to be more effective and efficient, but you’ve got to take every win you can get.”

                                                                                                                                                                        

The Pioneers (4-2-3, 1-0-1) scored 41 minutes into the game, when junior forward Dana Schonberger (Littleton, Colo.) booted a pass from the left corner and Billingsley headed the ball past the goalkeeper.

 

Snyder had seven saves for the Pioneers, as the Warhawks (4-7-0, 0-2-0) got off seven shots, compared to Denver’s 21.

 

Denver next travels to South Florida to face Florida Atlantic on Friday and Florida International on Sunday.
