DU Plays LBSU to 0-0 Tie

HONOLULU, Hawaii The University of Denver women’s soccer team tied Long Beach State 0-0 in double overtime in the second game of the OHANA Hotels & Resorts No Ka Oi at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium on Saturday night.

 

Long Beach State (2-0-1) outshot Denver (2-0-1) 12 to six. Junior goalkeeper Mackenzie Snyder (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) made six saves to keep the 49ers off the board, and LBSU keeper Breanna Truelove recorded one.

 

Senior midfielder Taryn Hemmings (Greeley, Colo.) registered three shots in the 110-minute contest, while sophomore forward Lauren Cavarra (Littleton, Colo.) took Denver’s lone shot on goal.

 

Snyder has not allowed a goal since the 86th minute of DU’s season opening 3-1 win over New Mexico. With Denver’s 1-0 victory over Colorado and the scoreless tie against LBSU, Snyder has played perfect for the Pioneers for the last 204:12 she has spent in net.

 

Long Beach State defeated Hawaii (0-1-0) 4-3 in overtime in the opening game of the OHANA Hotels & Resorts No Ka Oi on Wednesday night.

 

The Pioneers take on Hawaii on Monday at 8 p.m. MT before returning to the mainland.
