Marc Cheverie (Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia) stopped 26 shots to lead No. 2 Denver to a 2-1 win over in-state rival Colorado College tonight before 7,672 fans at World Arena. 
DU (10-4-1) takes a two-point leader over CC atop the WCHA standings and improves to 8-2-1 in league play. CC falls to 10-4-1, 7-3-1. DU also snaps its six-game winless streak (0-3-3) against the Tigers with its first win since Nov. 24, 2007 against its in-state rivals.
Ruegsegger and Rakhshani staked DU to a 2-0 lead, but Nate Prosser scored on the power play early in the third period and DU held off a 6-on-4 CC advantage for the final 47 seconds to claim the win.
John Lee (Moorhead, Minn.) was whistled for a tripping penalty at 19:13 of the final stanza, but DU's penalty-kill unit held CC without a shot for the final 47 seconds.
"It was a good road win, especially against our in-state rival Colorado College," DU head coach George Gwozdecky said. "We got an early lead and leaned on Cheverie and our penalty killers at the end. We're looking forward to playing an even better game tomorrow night."
Ruegsegger buried a great pass from Jesse Martin (Edmonton, Alberta) at 3:36 of the first period. Anthony Maiani (Shelby Township, Mich.) also assisted on the play. CC outshot DU, 12-7, but went 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.
Rakhshani snapped a quick wrister past Joe Howe (16 saves) on DU's first power-play attempt to give DU a 2-0 lead at 2:59 of the second period. Ruegsegger and Patrick Wiercioch (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) earned helpers on the play. Cheverie stopped a flurry of CC shots late in the period to preserve the 2-0 lead.
CC won the shot battle, 27-18, and each team connected for one power-play goal.
The teams will meet tomorrow night at Magness Arena in Denver. Puck drop is slated for 7:07 p.m.
Notes: Ruegsegger (48-50=98) is two points shy of joining the 100-point club at DU. Cheverie improved his record to 8-1 with a 1.55 GAA and .948 Sv%.
