No. 34 Denver Storms Past Middle, 4-1

DENTON, Texas - No. 34 Denver advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over Middle Tennessee today. Defending SBC champion DU (15-4) plays North Texas tomorrow at 8 a.m. Middle Tennessee falls to 10-13
Denver breezed to the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Mallory Voelker (Dousman, Wis.) and Kyla Iwinski (Marietta, Ga.) won 8-1 at No. 1, while Ute Schnoy (Altenstadt, Germany) and Julia Bauregger (Klagenfurt, Austria) won 8-2 at No. 2.
Bhavani Tirumurti (Jakarta, Indonesia) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 to make it 2-0. After Bauregger retired at No. 4 singles, Voelker gave DU a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. Annette Aksdal (Oslo, Norway) clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2.
DU has now won seven consecutive matches heading into tomorrow's semifinal against North Texas.
