DENVER - The Pioneer men's soccer team will host Pac-10 power the University of Washington at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Pioneers are 1-2-1 all-time against Washington with that one win coming in the teams' last meeting, when DU defeated then-No. 22 UW 4-1 in Seattle, Wash., on Sept. 21, 2007.
Denver is 2-2-0 this season and is riding a two-game winning streak after beating Dayton and Belmont at home last weekend, while the Huskies are 2-3-0 after dropping three of their last four games, including a 2-1 defeat at home against Portland on Thursday.
Freshman forward Alex Tarnoczi (Castle Rock, Colo.) was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Player of the Week, as well as selected to the National Teams of the Week by both Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer. Tarnoczi scored the game-winning goal in overtime to beat Dayton and had a goal and an assist against Belmont.
