Box Score BOULDER, Colo. - Colorado preseason All-American Nikki Marshall scored with 1:05 remaining in double overtime, as the University of Denver women's soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 15 Colorado Buffaloes on Friday evening in the Colorado Soccer Classic at Prentup Field.
The game marked the second-straight double overtime game for Denver (2-1-1) against ranked opponents, as the Pioneers tied Illinois on Sunday.
Colorado (3-1-0) outshot Denver 7-4 and was 6-0 on corner kicks, but the game went to halftime with a scoreless tie.
With 33 minutes left in the game, CU's Kassidy Fitzpatrick fired a shot, but freshman goalkeeper Lara Campbell (Anchorage, Alaska) deflected the ball over the goal.
In the 78th minute, Marshall broke past the DU defenders for a one-on-one, but Campbell made a diving stop to keep the game knotted at 0-0.
With just over three minutes remaining in the first overtime, CU's Erin Bricker received a pass in the box, but DU junior defender Jessie Rogers (Fort Collins, Colo.) stole the ball and cleared it.
A minute later, Marshall again broke past the Pioneers defense and into the box, but Campbell came diving out to make the save.
In the game, Campbell faced 29 shots in the game and made eight saves.
The Colorado Soccer Classic concludes on Sunday at 11 a.m., when the Pioneers take on Colgate.
