DENVER - Former University of Denver men's basketball head coach Troy Bledsoe died on Dec. 31, 2009. A funeral will be held on Jan. 16 in Grand Junction, Colo.
Bledsoe led the Pioneers as head coach for six seasons, in which DU went 61-90, following three seasons as an assistant coach.
During his time at Denver, Bledsoe coached DU legends such as Denver's all-time leading scorer Harry Hollines, Horace Kearney and Byron Beck, whose number was retired by the Denver Nuggets in 1977.
Following his tenure at DU, where he received a doctorate in 1974, Bledsoe served as director of athletics at Fort Lewis College from 1974-92. He was inducted into the Fort Lewis College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995.
