Carle Speaks to UMD Students About HCM

DULUTH - University of Denver junior volunteer assistant coach David Carle (Anchorage, Alaska) spoke to students from four different classes today about Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Carle was a guest speaker of instructor Kenneth Harkins of UMD's Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.

Carle spoke to a group of 60 students from four different classes - Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Performance Nutrition and Principals of Strenght and Conditioning - about HCM.

Carle shared his complete story about the disease and about his current role as volunteer student assistant coach at the University of Denver.

He lectured for approximately 15 minutes and answered questions from the students for about 25 minutes. Carle did an outstanding job. The students were fully engaged during the entire class. I was quite impressed, but not surprised what this young man has gone through and has continued to accomplish during his three-year career at DU.

Video of David's lecture, which is divided into two parts, is located below. Special thanks to Kenny Harkins.
